Life is still happening.

It's been a while since i was last here, I have been so lazy. :) The weather is warm, the sun has been shining and we have had forest fires that have burnt homes to the ground and damaged many others. It is so sad for those involved. Barefoot landing has gotten the worse of it so far. They said today that it is 80% under control now. They are just hitting the hotspots. They can flare up at anytime and start the fires again. We have firefighters from several states here helping. Over 20,000 acres have burnt so far. You think of California when you hear forest fires, but they happen other places as well, even in your back yard.
Bill and i are doing great. The weather has turned more than warm and with sunshine. So it's time to start going to the pool, and work on the tan. Mostly i get mine while in the pool. I can't sit in the sun anymore. I can't tolerate the heat.
Pam is hanging in there. She is able to do for herself with the help of her walker with a seat. She cooks and washes clothes. She can't clean very well but she has some help for that. she just doesn't have much strength, and probably never will. I think this last trip to the Hosp. took most everything she had left from her. But she is keeping a up attitude i think. Thats the best thing she has going for her right now.
Nothing much else happening around here. I'm still doing my Red Hat thing and loving it. Bill is still working at Enterprise and loving it. We are both healthy for the moment and hope to stay that way. Take care and be blessed.

Life happens again!

OK so it has been a while since i have been here. But like a penny on the ground i turn up. A lot has been going on. I went to HP to be with Pam while she had the new defibrillator/pace maker put in. Well, the surgery went fine, but in recovery she had a mini stroke that affected her left side. So when she recovered from the surgery they sent her from Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem to High Point Regional for Physical therapy. Well I was getting ready to go to Winston to pick her up. Before i went i was getting Squeezer ready to go outside to do his business. As i was attaching the leash, he decided he wanted a piece of me. No warning, he attacked my hand and proceeded to bite my first finger, them moved over to the top of my hand where he proceeded to chew a hunk out of it. How did was he able to bite me twice? Good question, but he was quick believe me. So I clean it up and call Pam to tell her i had to go to the ER and she would have to get transport to HP. So I get it treated, go over to the rehab unit. The nurse said Pam is in the ER, she had chest pains on the way over. Too much stress? Anyway she stayed there a few days and went to rehab as planned. She had a couple of days there and she was doing a breathing treatment for her COPD and proceeded to stop breathing. They had to intabate her and put her on a respirator. So off she goes back over to the Hosp. Mean while my hand is getting infected. So i go back to the ER. They clean it out and send me on my way. Pam gets better and goes back to Rehab. !st day back she fell out, fainted, dizzy, etc. So they take her back to her room. She went back yesterday and did well, but is very weak. Meanwhile i left and came back home, went to my Dr. who scrubbed the H out of my wound, gave me shots 4 days in a row, changed my antibiotics, and just released me on Wed. I am going to have a pretty scar on the top of my right hand.
Oh yes, what happened to the dog? Well Squeezer is at a Yorkie rescue home. He is doing fine says the woman who runs it. He will be fostered and trained and eventually given a new home. He was biting everyone lately if they reached to pet him. Pam if course is heart broken but I'm sure she realises this is best for him. She needs to take care of herself and she just can't handle him too at this point. Always being fearful he will bite someone. She doesn't need that stress either. She has normal function of her arm and hand. She is walking well, but still dragging her left leg some. That too will get better. She needs to use the walker or a cane now, when she gets home.
Well, this is my life the last few weeks. They have set a (shoot for) date for Pam to come home, if all goes well, she will come home on Tue. March 24. So I will go back to HP on Mon so i can pick her up. So goes the saga of me. Stay tuned, I'm sure something will pop up again, it always does. Be Blessed.

It's been a while.

I just haven't been much gung ho lately. Sorry. Had a really bad vertigo attack on my way to a luncheon. Luckily i was riding with someone. Called Bill he came to get me, dropped by the ER for about 7 hrs, got a shot to stop the nausea, and antivert to stop the spinning. I think I'd like the spinning on a bike better after that. Anyway i stayed in the bed for a few days. Between Bill and the neighbors i ate very well. Nausea was gone but spinning lingered for a few days. Still hasn't stopped totally if i move my head to fast, but i have my trusty pills if it gets out of control again. I have had these attacks off and on since 1972. The last one this bad was probably 10 years ago. I had a small, short one 3 yrs ago.
I am heading out to High Point on Mon. Pam is having surgery on Tuesday for her pacemaker/defibrillator again. This makes the 6Th or 7Th time. BUT, the good news is she has finally gone to another Dr. This one is in Winston Salem at Baptist hospital. Hopefully this one will be done right. I am also taking her to see a lawyer before i leave to see what he thinks about a lawsuit against the Dr. who has done this operation wrong several times. She wouldn't change Doctors because she was afraid a new one wouldn't know her history. I finally convinced her to talk to her family Dr. and he gave her a referral. I pray this one fixes it. Mentally and physically she is a wreck over it. Afraid everyday she is going to die because it isn't working right. Anyway i will be in HP for a week or so. Nothing else going on to write about. Take care and I'll be back.

Winter is here

It's been really cold here the last few days. We even had a bit of snow. It lingered in the back yard because the sun didn't hit the ground, and it stayed very cold. But by yesterday afternoon it finally was gone. Made me want to get out there and glue green painted leaves back on the trees and pretend it was spring. I unlike many i know and love, like the the cold weather. I can always can get warm but not always cool. Heat and i don't get on well. As a matter of fact i get my tan in the pool, not laying out in the sun. I like the clothes we wear in the winter better, i definitely like the soups, stews, etc we eat in cold weather. Comfort food i think they call it. LOL. I rarely wear a heavy coat outside. I think i may have been a Eskimo in another life. I love the spring and fall. Spring smells good and makes you feel good because of the beauty. Fall, just as beautiful as spring but with the air fresh and crisp. Winter is a time to just sit back and relax, and if you are lucky enough to have snow, to watch the beauty of it falling, and that makes the world around you quiet and beautiful. Summer on the other hand is sweaty and sticky. You get sunburned, in some cases it causes cancer. Good points are you can be outside with family at picnics etc. And put up with flies and misquitos. LOL! Get my point yet. Seriously we all have our seasons that we like, and i'm sure we can all find something we don't like about one or the other of them. But i have given some food for thought, just for the fun of it. Pick a subject, any subject, and you'll find something to talk about. I just seem to fall into one most of the time when i write here. I have thoughts i don't even know i have untill i start writing. Well i'm signing off now, Be blessed

Friends

I got an email from a friend today. It said "2 Things" Don't you love emails? And Do you realise we have been friends for 28yrs plus? Wow! We all need to go back and look at our friends and realise how much they mean to us. I have one friend that has been my friend since Jr High school. (Now they call them Middle schools.)That is 54 years give or take. We still email each other to this day, and if i get to High Point where i grew up, we try to meet for a few hrs. Some times it is short but it means the world. We have been friends long enough for a couple of marriages, and divorces. Birth of our children, deaths of one or both parents. Hundreds of letters and even more emails. Happy times, sad times, lonely times, and so much more. We have many other friends and lots of people in our lives, but we have never stopped being friends with each other. What a blessing to have a friendship that lasts that long and still is going strong to this day and will continue until our deaths. As we get older we start losing the people we love because they too get older. We need to (to borrow the phrase) reach out and touch. Life is too short to not tell some one how much they mean to your life and you. So Judy i just want to let you know you are loved. And Twila thanks for reminding me how valuable your friendship is to me. So get out there and reach out to your friends, you will feel really good when you do. I wish you many friends.

Where have I been?

Didn't realise it had been so long since i was on the computer. The holidays are over and life is back as it always is. It has been beautiful today after 3 days of wet and gloom. Plus the temps are in the low 70s. BUT..... It is going to get cold again for a few days. Living here is wonderful but the weather is strange sometimes. Oh well, i'm here to enjoy it so i won't complain. Robin gets snow, but we only got cold, cold and more cold while we were there. Yesterday was ceramics day. I finished another piece, i really enjoy working with my hands. Today was a clown day for the nursing home. Always a good experience there. The staff is wonderful and the residents are so sweet. They sing and today one of the ladies got up and danced with another clown. Tomorrow is movie day. I think we are going to see "The curious case of Benjamin Button". It looks like it will be good. We will meet and have lunch first. Friday Bill and I are going to Charlotte to help pack up Aunt Rachels house. She is moving to Goldsboro NC to a nursing home where most of her family lives. She has had a tough time with her leg broken. We all hope she will recover and be happier with that part of her family nearer. Not much else from this ole girl. When life is back to normal it's pretty quiet around here. Take care and have fun!!!!!!!

Lots of Blessings

Here I am again, but Bill and Robin have already told you all the stuff i was going to. Makes no difference actually. The whole point is to tell you how blessed we are as a family. As i say my prayers each night I thank God for all my blessings, and there are many. Safe in the car on our trip, being able to be with family even though we are a lot of miles apart. Having the best friends and family that is possible. For now the good health to be able to make these trips. And being able to afford the trip considering the economy. As most "little People" in the financial world we have been hit hard in our investments. So we just have to ride it out. As the song goes "you have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them". Well we have decided not to fold them. It will work out in time. Maybe this is a wake up call to all the greedy people to think more about the world and its people. The oil people sure are getting the BIG wake up call for their greed. As are the automotive people and the loan companies that let greed get to them. Unfortunatly it has also affected the world economy at the same time. Who gets the worse of it? The hard working people that keep this economy afloat. Now they have no money to spend and everything is affected. Surprised? I'm not. ok off the soap box before this is 6 pages long. May this be a happy and healthy New Year for us all.
